- Croma offering discounts on Apple products under new programme.
An electronics retailer from the Tata Group Croma is conducting the AppleYou & Croma programme to commemorate the birth anniversary of Apple founder Steve Jobs. The new programme has been introduced in association with Apple. Under the new programme, potential customers can purchase Apple products across all 180+ Croma stores and on its website croma.com. The programme will be available to customers till 7 March. The platform also aims at providing advice to willing buyers by curating deals & offers under the new programme at Croma.
Croma will also be providing offers across Apple product categories. According to a release by Croma, on buying two Apple devices, customers can avail of an additional 5% off on the second device, on buying 3 or more, customers get an additional 10% off. Customers can avail of 24 Months of No Cost EMI and up to 45% of assured buyback when they buy the latest iPhone. There are multiple offers, on other product categories like iPads and MacBooks as well. Commenting on the recent partnership, Ritesh Ghosal, CMO, Croma said, “Apple as a brand takes pride in the eco-system it has created to offer its customers a seamless and secure connected experience. While Croma has long been a preferred destination for people interested in buying Apple products, we believe this unique virtue of Apple is still not fully appreciated. - Xbox Game Streaming app for Windows to launch soon
Microsoft the tech giant is reportedly giving a final touch to its Xbox Game Streaming app for Windows PCs, which includes access to streaming games from the company's xCloud service. It is not possible to stream games from the new Xbox consoles to Windows PCs because it is unsupported in the existing Xbox Console Companion app. However, the upcoming app will let Windows users stream games from their Xbox Series S / X consoles, and from xCloud. Reportedly the app will also bring xCloud streaming to Windows PCs for the first time. Microsoft is planning a "what's new for gaming" event for next month where the company may make announcements related to xCloud plans for the web and iOS, too.
Microsoft is additionally readying 1080p streams for xCloud, instead of the 720p to improve the gaming experience on Windows PCs. The web version of Microsoft xCloud will be similar to the Android version. It will have a simple launcher, game recommendations, and the ability to reopen recently played titles. Recently, Microsoft also started testing its game streaming service, xCloud, on the web via a browser for iOS, iPad OS, and PC. The company has been unable to release its xCloud service on the App Store due to Apple's restrictions. This is why it announced that it will release the game streaming service via Safari on iOS.
- App spending to reach $270bn annually by 2025.
Global consumer spending on premium apps, in-app purchases, and subscriptions across Apple's App Store and Google Play will reach $270 billion annually by 2025. About 2.5 times what consumers spent in 2020 as Covid-19 accelerated mobile trends. According to data provided by app analytics firm Sensor Tower, Covid-19 supercharged global consumer spending in mobile apps during 2020, which climbed 30 percent year-over-year to $111 billion. While year over year growth in spending will return to pre-pandemic levels. Over the next five years, gross revenue on both app stores will continue to climb each year with 19.5 percent. Compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to reach $270 billion in 2025.

- Google may introduce 'Wear OS screen recording' tool.
The search engine giant is reportedly planning to introduce screen recording features for Wear OS smartwatch devices. Google's upcoming feature will include the ability to record the screen in video format from the Wear OS smartphone app and then share them. The essential feature is still in development and Google has not yet revealed anything with regard to use cases for the feature. The details regarding the limits on the length of recordings are also undisclosed for now. Google expects the tool will make it easier for students and teachers to record virtual lessons.
The Wear OS app on Android has already launched the feature "Take a screenshot of watch" from the overflow menu in the top-right corner. A message consequently appears on your phone with a tap launching the system Share sheet. In addition, Google is all set to introduce a built-in screen recorder to Chrome OS in March. The Google blog post reads, "Teachers have long been recording lessons to help students do homework and study for exams, but over the last year, it has become absolutely critical to e-learning."
