  • iPhone 12 To Be Made in India Soon: It Might Get Cheaper Now.

Apple confirmed that it would start production of 5G-enabled iPhone model in India. The iPhone 12 will be manufactured at its long-time partner Foxconn's facility in Tamil Nadu. The same production facility manufactures iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. It added, citing analysts, that Apple is likely to shift 7-10 per cent of its production capacity from China. Despite the manufacture of the other models in India, none of them saw any corresponding drop in retail prices. Hence, the pattern can be expected to continue with the iPhone 12.

With the shifting of the base, iPhones will see a reduced import tax of 22% and will see increased localised hiring and job creation. All this serves to give a boost to “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” initiative of the government. India has also been trying to increase exports which this development will now encourage further.Taking advantage of the government's production linked incentive (PLI) scheme; Apple already has partnered with Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron. Confirming the development, Apple in a statement said, "We are proud to be starting production of iPhone 12 in India for our local customers. Apple is dedicated to making the best products and services in the world to delight our customers."

  • Adobe Photoshop and Visual Studio for MacOS Now Run Natively on The M1.

After a multi-month beta period, software company Adobe has officially released a version of its Photoshop image-editing software that runs natively on M1 Macs. Adobe says it plans to continue optimizing and improving the Apple Silicon version of Photoshop. Adobe says that the newly made Photoshop software for the M1 runs natively and is 50% faster compared to Intel-powered equivalent laptops. As per Photoshop product manager Pam Clark, “Our internal tests show a wide range of features running an average of 1.5x the speed of similarly configured previous generation systems.”

A new Super Resolution feature will also be available via the Adobe Camera Raw plugin. This uses machine learning to boost the resolution of an image with a single click, producing higher quality results than before. Additionally, Visual Studio Code version 1.54, which was released last month, is also supported by Apple Silicon. “We are happy to announce our first release of stable Apple Silicon builds this iteration. Users on Macs with M1 chips can now use VS Code without emulation with Rosetta and will notice better performance and longer battery life when running VS Code. Thanks to the community for self-hosting with the Insiders build and reporting issues early in the iteration,” the company said in a post.

  • Netflix Rs 299 Mobile Plus Plan Will Let Users Stream in HD & Give Access to More Devices.

The streaming giant-Netflix is now testing a mobile plan for Rs 299 that will let users stream in HD and allow them to watch shows and movies on a phone, a tablet and a laptop. The plan offers upgrades compared to the Netflix Rs 199 monthly Mobile plan that was launched in July 2019 for the Indian market. This Rs 299 plan will allow subscribers to enjoy shows in high definition (HD) on one screen at a time. However, unlike the Mobile plan, which can only be streamed on either phone or tablet; the Mobile+ plan allows users to stream on a computer/laptop as well in addition to phone and tablet.

The plan is still in the testing phase. India is among the most massive markets for Netflix, which is presumably the reason why the company is exploring the new plan in the country. Currently, the cheapest Netflix plan is Rs 199 which is exclusive for India. The plan is purely for mobiles, tablet users in India. The smartphone/tablet-only plan does support offline downloads. The biggest catch in this cheapest plan was that it merely had SD or standard definition content at 480p resolution.
