  • Netflix Starts Testing Timer Feature to Stop Streaming Content After a Certain Period.

The US streaming platform Netflix has started testing a new feature that will allow viewers to set a timer for their favourite show or movie. The latest addition, currently live for select Netflix subscribers on Android devices globally. Netflix is testing the timer feature for adult profiles, though it could be expanded to its Kids viewers over time — depending on the feedback it receives during the initial testing period. The timer feature would be rolled out broadly if the company found it improved the member experience.

Once the feature reaches your Android device, you’ll observe a Timer icon next to the casting button at the top-right corner of the screen. You’ll need to tap that icon and select from 15, 30, 45, and Finish Watching. There is no clarity whether Netflix will expand the timer feature beyond Android devices. In the recent past, Netflix has worked hard to attract smartphone users, alongside the people who watch its content on their TVs and through its Web presence. The company recently developed better audio using xHE-AAC codec and audio-only mode as a few of its key offerings specifically for Android users. It also reportedly started testing spatial audio support for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max to uplift the experience.

  • Xiaomi working on smart glass with detection, therapeutic properties.

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has reportedly patented a smart glass that can integrate detection and treatment. They also suggest it would emit some therapeutic signals which include phototherapy signals and sound wave signals, that can be used to treat brain diseases or eye fatigue. The light therapy signal can treat brain diseases or mental diseases. The sound wave signal and the sound wave signal can treat mental illness. Reportedly, magnetic waves or electromagnetic waves can promote the absorption of missing elements or effectively promote blood circulation in the brain.

The brand’s R&D efforts have seen it acquire a new patent. The patent was initially filed by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. for “a smart glasses and glasses case.” Xiaomi earlier has patented seven different foldable smartphone designs. The patent contains overall seven foldable smartphone designs. Out of the total count, three models feature clamshell form factor. Apart from three clamshell foldable phone designs, Xiaomi has also patented four massive screen foldable smartphones that unfold into a tablet. All of them look like 'Galaxy Z Fold 2' with some minor differences between them.
