  • All iPhone 13 models to come with sensor-shift camera stabilization.
Apple is reportedly planning to bring sensor-shift optical image stabilization to the entire iPhone 13 lineup. According to industry sources, next-generation iPhones slated for launch in the second half of 2021 would all come with sensor-shift stabilization technology. The Cupertino-based tech giant first introduced sensor-shift stabilization on the Wide lens of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The technology stabilizes the camera's sensor instead of the lens. "Until now sensor-shift stabilization was only on DSLR cameras," says Apple's website.

The iPhone 13 series is also tipped to get Direct Time-of-Flight (D-ToF) technology. These sensors would be provided by a US-based company called II-VI, which would be entering Apple's supply chain for its next-generation iPhone models. The iPhone 13 lineup may mirror the iPhone 12 family of phones, with a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 Mini, 6.1-inch iPhone 13, 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max. The Ultra-Wide cameras on the two high-end models would be significantly upgraded to f/1.8, 6P (six-element lens) with autofocus.

  • YouTube.com Now Available to Be Installed as a Progressive Web App.
YouTube can now be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and some users are beginning to spot a plus-in-a-circle icon appearing directly in the Omnibox or the web address bar. PWAs are in oversimplified terms web pages that can work like apps on your phone. PWA support was earlier added for YouTube Music and YouTube TV. The support was incorporated into the main YouTube site over the past few days.

Users are getting the prompt to “Install app.” This is different from the browser's manual overflow menu ‘Install’ button, which was available for users for quite some time. After users select this option, they see a large red play logo in the app launcher to open YouTube in a window that does not have the address bar and other UI elements, helping users get a more dedicated experience. According to Chrome Unboxed, progressive web apps can locally cache video downloads for offline viewing like their app counterpart. Web apps require zero downloads and are becoming more indistinguishable from regular apps by the day.
