  • FAUG Game Launched in India.

FAUG or Fearless And United Guards, India’s most awaited mobile action game is launched on India’s 72nd Republic Day, January 26. The Indian Army has been the inspiration for FAU-G game and thus the characters of the game will likely come dressed in a uniform somewhat similar to that of the real army men. The first episode of the game will be based on the Galwan Valley in Ladakh as shown in the recent trailer video.

“We are also donating 20 percent of the game’s revenue to the ‘Bharat ke Veer’ Foundation, which will also allow Indians to also contribute positively to the army,” Vishal Gondal, nCore Games CEO and co-founder said. Every in-app purchase that players will make will help contribute to the foundation. FAUG Game can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or via an APK file that will be available on the official website. The FAU-G game is available only for Android users for now. However, iPhone users shouldn't feel disappointed because the multiplayer action game will be available on the Apple App Store in the months to come. The developer behind FAUG has ensured that they will take care of the user privacy making it a safe platform for gamers.

  • North Korean Hackers Breached Windows and Chrome Defenses to Attack Security Researchers.
North Korean hackers have been impersonating cybersecurity bloggers in order to target security researchers working at private firms and government organizations worldwide. They’re doing so by exploiting unpatched vulnerabilities in Windows 10 and Chrome, Google warned Monday. In many cases, researchers' systems were infected after simply visiting websites controlled by hackers, even when the targeted systems were running the latest versions of Microsoft's OS and Google's browser.

The hackers used multiple platforms to communicate with potential targets, including Twitter, Telegram, LinkedIn, Keybase, Discord, and email. After establishing initial communications, they would ask if the target wanted to team up on vulnerability research. They would then send a Visual Studio Project (for exploiting security bugs) and a DLL file to targets. This malicious DLL file eventually established communication with actor-controlled C2 domains and sent sensitive information from the infected system to the hackers. Google's TAG team listed specific hacker accounts in its write-up and advised people who have interacted with these accounts in the past to scan their systems for any signs of compromise. The campaign appears to be the latest attempt by the North Korea-backed threat groups to target prominent individuals and institutions in foreign countries.

  • Tesla Partnered with Samsung for 5nm Self Driving Chips.
As per the latest report emerging from South Korea state that Tesla has partnered with Samsung to manufacture its upcoming self-driving system on a chip which will be built on the South Korean giants new 5nm process. Notably, this is the very same process the South Korean company uses to fabricate the Exynos 2100 processor which is used in the latest Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphone. This is an interesting development as it goes counter to reports which stated that Tesla was going to partner up with TSMC for a 7nm process.

The chipset is being reported to be in Research & Development (R&D) stage at the Samsung Foundry Division and it will be mounted on Tesla’s autonomous vehicles. Tesla's full self-driving chip was unveiled in 2019. This chip is currently being manufactured by Samsung on a 14nm process. However, its future iterations will perhaps be done on the bleeding edge 5nm process which is coming into action in the latest gadgets of 2021. Elon Musk has already said that his team is working on the next two generations of the full self-driving chip which are expected to be 3 times better and are 2 years away from production.

  • Google Unveiled Privacy-friendly AI Cookie Killer.
A new Google machine learning initiative aims to replace the rancid cookies with a privacy-first alternative. The search giant calls the system Federated Learning of Cohorts (FLoC). FLoC (pronounced “flock”) allows businesses to send ads to groups of potential customers rather than specific individuals. The system uses machine learning algorithms to create clusters of people with similar browsing habits. All the data analyzed by the algorithms including your web history are kept private on the browser and not uploaded anywhere else.

On Monday, the company released new data from simulations of the technique conducted by Google’s ads team. The tech giant said, “Our tests of FLoC to reach in-market and affinity Google Audiences show that advertisers can expect to see at least 95% of the conversions per dollar spent when compared to cookie-based advertising.” Google now plans to make FLoC available for public trials through a March update to Chrome. The company will also test the cohorts with advertisers in the second quarter of this year. The tech remains under development, but the tests suggest it could provide more privacy than those unpalatable cookies.

  • Google Photos Got A Tablet-optimized UI On Android .
Google has made the Google Photos UI more optimized on tablets. The look and feel of the update bring the tablet version of the app more in line with the desktop. Before, Google Photos on tablets felt a lot like Google was content to provide the same app found on smartphones. That meant a bottom bar with three shortcuts for Photos, Search, and Library. While those shortcuts work fine on a phone, the bar didn’t really take advantage of the extra screen real estate on tablets.

The optimized Google Photos UI removes the bottom bar and instead features a sidebar that includes quick links for Photos, Explore, Archive, Trash, and more. It’s a much better use of a tablet’s screen size. There’s also a top search bar. The refreshed UI might look a little different depending on the size of the tablet’s screen. The new Google Photos UI is slowly rolling out to Android, although it’s not widely available just yet. Meanwhile, the iOS app is also waiting in line to get updated.
